Honing our listening and colour recognition skills

This week the children have been practicing their listening skills. This is an important skill that the children must learn in order to distinguish the phonic sounds that build up words and eventually enable them to read and write. We went on a sound hunt listening for different kinds of sounds that we can hear in our environment, then using tapping sticks to make our own sounds on different surfaces. We were also learning to recognise colours, as well as categorise various objects according to their colour. This new vocabulary will help them in both Literacy and Maths. We have also been exploring and discussing self-awareness, who we really are, how do we look, and what do we like, through songs, stories and conversation.

Our First Week in Nursery

This week was all about getting to know each other, learning our school routines and settling in. The children have done a marvelous job of learning all about their new class and making friends too. Thank you to all parents who came to the transition meeting, and remember to contact us if you have anything you want to talk to us about.

We love the new playground equipment!

Swimming was fun too!

So many imaginative activities to explore

Welcome Back!

We are so pleased to be back at school ready to start another fantastic academic year! The children have all enjoyed their first day in Nursery. They have been busy exploring their new classrooms and meeting their new classmates. We would like to say welcome to all our new students and families joining Regent's in Nursery this year. We would like to also take this opportunity to introduce our new Nursery teacher, Ms. Emma Hogarty, who is the class teacher for Nursery H.

All Nursery parents should have received a 'Welcome to Nursery' letter by email today containing important information about your child's year ahead. Please feel free to come and see any members of the Nursery team before or after school. Alternatively, you can email us at any time.
